I was presented a patient that was looking to have her breast implants removed and replaced. During the consultation she mentioned that she had recently had a scheduled MRI and the results showed that she had a ruptured breast implant. After agreeing on the expectation for the breast implant removal and revision surgery we scheduled for surgery.
The video below shows the 32 year old ruptured implant being removed and after 17 years of breast surgeries this was the first time I was not able to identify the type of implant I was replacing. I have shared this implant with two other colleagues, both having over 20 years of experience and neither of them could identify.
