Leakage Through The Valve On Breast Implant

saline rupture breast implantThis is a photo of a  ruptured smooth saline implant.  Notice that there is about 15 percent of the fluid remaining within the implant and the yellow dark colored fluid is consistent with an increase in fibrin and protein associated with a chronic long-term rupture.  This implant was ruptured in a 31-year-old female status post delivery of her last child, breastfeeding and now capsular contracture on the left breast with Baker IV encapsulation.  Notice now that the implant showed leakage through the valve and notice under the valve that there is fibrin, but there is also capsule which is consistent with capsular contracture and scar tissue leading to her ruptured saline implant.
